November 18th, 1974 saw The Beatles release Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, from the era defining album Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. Controversy soon followed as the initials L.S.D. could be taken from the song's title. John Lennon, who wrote the song, denied the hidden meaning stating the name came from a drawing by his son. History lesson aside, it is a brilliant song from a fantastic album, which should be the cornerstone of every good music collection. Even if you don’t like The Beatles it's worth buying the album for the artwork alone, designed by pop art guru Peter Blake. I still remember my dad getting his original vinyl LP from the loft for me to listen too. At the time I was listening to Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails and the like so this album was a total 180 in the music stakes, but it blew me away. It still does to this day. So I couldn't think of a better song to design my first music inspired t-shirt around. More pix after the jump
